But Trump had earlier doubled down, announcing in a message to Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store that the world "is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland". First, the current tariff deal with the United States would be put on hold, he said. Second, European tariffs on imports from the United States, currently suspended until early February, could come into force.
