Daigle, 61, a Commons guard — and a professional female boxer back before that was cool — was on the front lines during the 2014 Parliament Hill attack. On Wednesday, she clocked her final shift as a constable for the Parliamentary Protective Service after 20 years. Nathan Cirillo at the National War Memorial, got past RCMP outside then stormed into Centre Block. Daigle was stationed in the Hall of Honour, waiting for a French delegation that was due to arrive on Parliament Hill, just before the gunman charged through the front doors. It was that attack that led to the consolidation of three separate security forces — the House of Commons Security Service, Senate Protective Services and RCMP Parliament Hill unit — under the umbrella of the Parliamentary Protective Service.
