OMAHA — Tatum Tempelmeyer’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth scored McKenna Loomis from third base, allowing Beatrice to capture its first state softball championship since 2003. The Lady O defeated Hastings 1-0 at Carrie Claussen Field in Omaha. The next Lady O hitter struck out, which set up Tempelmeyer’s heroics. Beatrice Coach Gary Lytle said he was more excited after that defensive play than he was the game winning hit. They are really solid.”Boyko was watching from the dugout when Tempelmeyer’s ground ball snuck through the infield for the game winner.
