Amnesty International has released two new reports shedding light on the punitive demolitions targeting Muslim properties in India, with the widespread use of J.C. Bamford Excavators Limited (JCB) branded bulldozers. The reports titled “Bulldozer Injustice in India” and “JCB’s Role and Responsibility in Bulldozer Injustice in India” detail the demolition of at least 128 properties between April and June 2022. Our research documents the punitive demolition of Muslim properties in at least five states with a widespread use of JCB-branded bulldozers in a hate campaign against Muslims in India. The report calls on JCB to publicly condemn the misuse of its machinery for human rights violations and to implement robust human rights due diligence policies. Amnesty calls for JCB to issue a public condemnation against the utilisation of its machinery in perpetrating human rights violations in punitive demolitions targeting Muslim properties in India.
