Officials say work has begun to repair runways at Kufra Airport after it was closed for a month, with flights expected to resume once initial repairs are completed. He said repairs are under way on the 400-metre runway, which had caused difficulties for aircraft landings and damage to wheels. Hamed added that the same fund has commissioned the Turkish company to rehabilitate the main runway, which has been out of service since 1993. The company has already inspected the site and is due to begin work within three months. Flights are expected to resume once the auxiliary runway is completed, while work on the main runway continues, allowing the airport to eventually operate at full capacity with two runways.
