The Catholic bishop in Ethiopia's war-torn Tigray region while expressing grave concern for the state of today's world is pleading with the international community to not overlook the dire humanitarian situation because of the ongoing three-year-long conflict in his diocese. "Our world order seems to be in need of a serious transformation, otherwise the consequences will continue affecting more and more, of course the weaker ones being first losers," Bishop Tesfaselassie Medhin of Adigrat whose diocese covers the whole of Ethiopia's war-torn Tigray region, said in a statement to FIDES. Bishop Medhin said this was the situation despite the November 2022 peace agreement signed in South Africa. "The world is relaxed as if the peace agreement is in place""Our population is experiencing extremely difficult life in Tigray. The United Nations has also been increasingly outspoken about the widespread atrocities, war crimes and other crimes against humanity conducted by both sides.
