Bangladesh believes the issue should be resolved to maintain peace along the border, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Monday. However, anxiety persists in the area on Sunday despite a flag meeting being held between the Border Guard Bangladesh, or BGB, and the Indian Border Security Force, or BSF. Shibganj Police Station chief Golam Kibria said the clash had occurred along the frontier between Chowka and Kiranganj BGB border outposts in Binodpur union of the district’s Shibganj Upazila since Saturday afternoon. The Indians then entered the Bangladesh border and cut down several mango trees in the frontier field. Hundreds of people gathered at the Bangladesh border and started protesting against the incident.
