A 43-year-old woman was found dead when firefighters were called to her home in Shui Chuen O Estate in Sha Tin, where a fire broke out on Friday morning. The woman named Tsang was certified dead on the spot when firefighters broke into the flat and put out the fire. The building needed not to be evacuated, and firefighters later mobilized the Fire Investigation Dog Team to aid the investigation. It was understood that Tsang was smoking at home at the time, and she accidentally set the couch ablaze. Tsang suspectedly passed out after inhaling the smoke and couldn’t make her escape in time, leading to her unfortunate death.

"We are proud of our collective accomplishment — 31 out of 42 and counting. The latest to be approved by the House on third and final reading were the 30-year national infrastructure program bill and the proposed national land use law. For approval on second reading are the following: natural gas industry enabling law, National Employment Action Plan, and the Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System bill. Three of the 42 measures were for committee discussion: budget modernization; a National Defense Act; and unified system of separation, retirement and pension for uniformed personnel.

China Eastern Airlines, the initial customer for the country's homegrown narrow-body jet C919, will launch the plane's first commercial flight on Sunday, the carrier's app showed on Friday. The C919 flight will take off as flight number MU9191 at 10:45 a.m. Beijing time (0245 GMT) from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and arrive in Beijing Capital Airport at 1:10 p.m. On Tuesday, the Shanghai Stamp Collecting Corporation said a promotional stamp would commemorate the first flight of C919 on Sunday. China Eastern signed a contract for five C919s in March 2021 in the first commercial deal for the plane. China's Xinhua state news agency had said last year that the C919 would make its first commercial flight in the spring.

A 70-year-old man was hit by a taxi driven by a 79-year-old driver near the intersection of Cheung Sha Wan Road and Cheung Wah Street on Wednesday night, with police suspecting that someone had failed to comply with a light signal on a light signal crossing.
