It appears that the leaked Dubai real estate data that was covered by international media outlets earlier this week created quite a stir. But Mr. Naqvi needs to be aware that, as a public official, his business dealings and those of other politicians will often be scrutinized by the public. Furthermore encouraging is the fact that Mr. Naqvi is endorsing requests for an investigation into the compromised data in order to ascertain whether any of the properties that have been identified were obtained illegally. They can now analyze the data and compare it with their own records since it is now available. As Mr. Naqvi has noted, the investigation’s only goal should be to ascertain whether tax compliance regulations were followed and to apprehend offenders wherever they may be.

ISLAMABAD: A senior Pakistani diplomat at the United Nations urged technology-producing nations on Friday to remove restrictions on the equitable spread of scientific knowledge and equipment, saying it would help advance developing countries. Access to emerging technologies in the Global South is often influenced by geopolitical concerns, as international relations and trade policies can dictate the availability and distribution of these resources. This geopolitical gatekeeping not only restricts technological advancement in less developed nations but also perpetuates global inequities in access to cutting-edge tools and innovations. In case of Pakistan, US export controls limit access to high-end technologies, particularly those with dual-use capabilities that might be diverted for military purposes. Ambassador Jadoon mentioned Pakistan’s concerns about the unregulated military applications of emerging technologies and supported calls for establishing legally-binding norms to regulate their use, ensuring regional and global stability.

This wasn’t an ordinary state visit, it was a declaration by both nations of the “end of US hegemony”, and the beginning of a “democratic, multipolar world”. Such strong, prophetic language is by choice, as the world sleepwalks into mushrooming global conflicts, with the US-led Western alliance at the heart of each disparate conflict, the Russian-Chinese alliance is demonstrating that it is willing to fight this status quo till the end. In the Middle East, Israel’s brutal genocide has exposed the rhetoric of the “rules-based order” and the narrative of “democracy” and “human rights” used to enforce that order. In reaction, popular protests against imperialism are sweeping the world, with the younger generations overwhelmingly opposing US foreign policy. At this crucial moment in history, two of world’s greatest powers affirming a “no limits” alliance, backed by military, economic, technological, and cultural, exchange, in opposition to the US-led world order will send seismic shocks across the globe.
