Share:ISLAMABAD - The Ministry of Economic Affairs has noted that Pakistan’s risk of default is low mainly due to the revival of the International Monetary Fund’s programme, loans from multilateral and bilateral development partners and issuance of bonds in the interna­tional market. “Pakistan’s risk of default is low mainly due to the following reasons. Finally, the government is cognizant of the default risk and initiated appropriate measures like taxing the wealthy, reducing subsidies, and re-adjust­ing the fuel, electricity, and gas prices to re­duce the burden on the exchequer. In this regard, the IMF de­scribes the usability of debt ratios as “Debt ra­tios should be considered in conjunction with key economic and financial variables, in partic­ular expected growth and interest rates, which determine their trend in medium-term scenar­ios”. Foregoing in view, the macroeconomic in­dicators in respect of Pakistan’s economy as described above are relatively better than that of Sri Lanka.

So far 12 NHL veterans have signed Professional Tryouts (PTO) with various NHL teams. The Oilers offered him a PTO and are waiting to hear if he will sign it. Virtanen was found not guilty this past July, and now he can try to revive his NHL career. He made his NHL debut the following season with the Vancouver Canucks and produced 7-6-13 in 55 games. He did play 10 NHL games, but only produced one assist.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is grappling with food shortages after deadly floods left the agriculture belt underwater, the prime minister told the Turkish president by phone, as authorities scaled up efforts Monday to deliver food, tents and other items. Shahbaz Sharif spoke to Recep Tayyip Erdogan overnight to thank Turkey for dispatching food, tents and medicine by 12 military aircraft, four trains and Turkish Red Crescent trucks. A government statement said Sharif briefed Erdogan about the government’s relief activities and sought assistance from Turkey in overcoming the “food shortage.” Sharif also sought help from Turkey on reconstruction work in the flood-hit areas. The government, the military, UN agencies and local charities are providing food to these flood victims. Now it is in talks to import badly needed wheat and vegetables, including to people not directly affected by floods.

KARACHI – Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and a federal agency in a joint operation conducted late Saturday night, arrested a terrorist affiliated with a banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Metroville, SITE. According to spokesman for CTD on Sunday, the arrested terrorist identified as Muhammad Shah alias Dung, alias Talha, alias Muhammad Ali, had come to Karachi to constitute his network in the megalopolis. A pistol along with two magazines and 14 rounds were recovered from his possession. The accused was also wanted by CTD Peshawar for his involvement in heinous terrorist activities. Accused Muhammad Shah confessed his involvement in attacks on law enforcement agencies in tribal areas.
