Today marks the 73rd death anniversary of Pakistan's first Prime Minister, Shaheed-e-Millat Khan Liaquat Ali Khan. Born in Karnal, East Punjab, Liaquat Ali Khan was an influential leader who played a pivotal role in the creation of Pakistan. A close ally of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Liaquat Ali Khan was instrumental in the struggle for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent. Liaquat Ali Khan was tragically assassinated on this day in 1951 during a public meeting at Company Bagh in Rawalpindi. The park was later renamed Liaquat Bagh in his honor.

QUETTA: Following a violent attack that left 21 miners dead, coal mine workers in Duki have halted operations, staging protests to demand improved security and justice for their fallen colleagues. The protests erupted after armed assailants launched an assault on the mines, reportedly using rocket launchers and grenades, which also resulted in severe injuries to several miners. The attackers gathered workers before opening fire and setting machinery ablaze. “We will not resume work until our protection is ensured,” said a representative of the protesting miners, emphasizing the constant dangers they face. India on Tuesday finalised an agreement with the US State Department to acquire 31 MQ-9B SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) drones, as confirmed by India’s Defence Ministry. This procurement, first discussed in 2018, is set to boost India’s surveillance and intelligence capabilities significantly. The deal aligns with US strategic interests in reducing India’s reliance on Russian military equipment and countering China’s influence in the region. India’s Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar arrived at the Noor Khan Airbase on Tuesday to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit being held here on Wednesday. He was received at the airport by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials. Unnamed agents of the Indian government are alleged to have been involved in violent crimes in Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said on Monday. As well, he said victims of coercion or other crimes involving Indian agents should come forward.

The FPCCI vice president said that the SCO member states are rich in natural resources, have large labour forces, and play crucial roles in regional trade, energy supply, and geopolitical stability. Sheikh, the FPCCI President, stressed the importance of regional cooperation in the evolving global economic landscape. Other proposals included the creation of an SCO Energy Council, an SCO Environment Agency, and an SCO Education Framework to promote degree equivalence and shared curricula across member countries.
