GAZA - An airstrike on two houses in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza Saturday martyred 11 members of the same family, according to hospital authorities and a family member. Meanwhile, about a dozen people were martyred Saturday in three separate strikes and shelling in different parts of Gaza, Gaza’s Civil Defense and hospital authorities say. The Civil Defense said that seven people had been killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school in Al Shati refugee camp, which is close to the coast in northern Gaza. Al-Awda Hospital, central Gaza, said it had received four bodies and four injured people as a result of bombing west of the Nuseirat refugee camp. Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal said that in a third attack, five people had been killed or wounded, including children, by Israeli shelling on a residential complex in the Jabalya Al-Balad area in northern Gaza.

ISLAMABAD - Fair Trade in Tobacco (FTT) on Saturday praised the government’s recent initiative to crack down on tax evaders, emphasizing the critical need for enforcement in all sectors. Gaya (Bihar): Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj on Saturday nominated a doctor and an academician for Imamganj and Belaganj assembly constituencies in Bihar where by-polls are scheduled on November 13. The Jan Suraaj's nominee for Imamganj, a reserved constituency, is Jitendra Paswan, a paediatrician known for social activism, while the party fielded academician Khilafat Hussain from the Belaganj assembly seat. The candidature of Hussain had met with some resistance as supporters of another aspirant had created a ruckus at the meeting of Jan Suraaj on Friday night in Gaya, party sources said. By-polls to two more assembly seats - Ramgarh and Tarari - will also be held on November 13 and the counting will take place on November 23. On October 16, the party named former vice chief of army staff Lieutenant General Krishna Singh as its candidate for by-poll to Tarari assembly seat.

LAHORE: The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday claimed to have “thwarted a major terror plan” by rounding seven terrorists up belong to a banned organisation during 129 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across the province. According to a statement issued on Saturday, the Punjab CTD conducted the IBOs in different districts and interrogated 129 suspects. During the IBOs, the CTD arrested the seven terrorists, who belonged to the banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and other organisations, it added. It said that they were arrested during IBOs in Lahore, Bhakkar, Attock, Wahari, Bahawalpur and Jhang. Earlier on Oct 5, the Punjab CTD arrested had 18 terrorists.
