Clarkes Beach, Awhitu, Pukekohe, Royal Auckland and Grange, and the Windross Farm golf courses are among 22 courses being transformed into vibrant hubs for community conservation. "Our ultimate goal is to see all of Auckland's 36 golf courses join this initiative," Joshi said. "Council provides its expertise and advice, and connects the golf clubs with the local conservation community groups and iwi to maximise the efforts golf clubs put into conservation and regeneration of their land." Joshi said Pupuke Golf Course in the North Shore was a perfect example of a course transformation.

Junior racers, some as young as 12, can acquire junior MotorSport licenses despite not being old enough to drive on public roads. Tragically, the recent Arcadia Road Rallysprint in Paparoa resulted in the deaths of Tyson Jemmett, 35, and Brooklyn Horan, 15, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. The Arcadia Road Rallysprint was a ClubSport event, an entry-level competition. Junior competitors in ClubSport events face restrictions, including being limited to five specific types of vehicles. MotorSport NZ pledges a comprehensive investigation into the Arcadia Road Rallysprint incident, including a thorough review of events leading up to and following the crash, as well as an assessment of existing procedures and regulations.

When Ginny Anderson decided to demand a body count from Mark Mitchell, the context was a ZB interview with the most reactionary cracker audience in NZ second only to The Platform. Here’s Mark Mitchell on criticism about this stupid and counter productive Gang Patch Ban…“I’m not gonna be lectured by the Labour Party or academics when over the last six years we’ve seen a massive increase in gang numbers and a huge increase in gang violence. NONE of that dynamic will be impacted buy this stupid fucking gang patch ban and dispersal rules. Australian Biker Gangs are completely different from the domestic legacy gangs here in NZ who are deeply entrenched in communities. We need a focus on the 501s who are generating the turf war, not some unenforceable gang patch ban that will automatically start conflict!

Photo via NZ HeraldStuart Nash has hit out at his former Labour colleagues over changes to laws targeting gangs he wanted to introduce, but which others wouldn’t progress due to fears they would unfairly target Māori. But then-police minister Nash wanted the threshold lowered to $0 - a plan he says was dashed by Labour’s Minister of Justice Kiri Allan over concerns it would hurt Māori and would contravene the Bill of Rights. Speaking to Newstalk ZB’s Mike Hosking this morning, Nash hit out at Allan, saying at the time his view was “pull your bloody head in”. Asked if the spat showed Hipkins was a weak leader, Nash said he believed “in this case, he got it wrong”. Nash said Labour would need to position itself as tough on gangs if it had any hope of winning the next election.

Minister for Housing and Infrastructure, Chris Bishop has told his Cabinet colleagues to expect a plan to fix the housing crisis to be delivered in the first quarter of this year. Economists and housing advocates have been highly critical of the Panel for rejecting evidence that land supply is the key driver of housing costs. In his speech, Bishop said he would be in charge of any decisions related to housing where councils and Independent Hearings Panels do not agree. “The idea that zoning and land supply does not affect housing affordability is frankly nuts,” he said, in a different section of the speech. “The evidence is as plain as day: cities that make it difficult to build more housing have housing affordability problems.

The Kiwi dollar starts today at 61.7 USc and down -¼c from this time yesterday. That all means our TWI-5 starts today at just on 71.1 and -30 bps lower. "The Crown say at this point, in a moment of extreme anger borne out of the hurtful verbal tirade, she stabbed Mr Hemi in back of the head," McRae said. McRae said Richardson claimed Hemi stabbed himself in the head. You might ask yourself if Mr Hemi had done that to himself - how may that be?" "This case is all about who stabbed Mr Hemi - did he do it to himself, or was the defendant responsible?" "The defendant was responsible for this injury to Mr Hemi … She was angry at him and she took the anger out on him."
