The misleading headline in the NZ Herald was “quietly corrected” online, on the day of publication, as covered by Mediawatch. Among other criticisms of the reporting, the Media Council described it as’poor journalism’. Despite the swiftness of the online correction, it failed to capture the gravity of the errors in the story. ….. As swift as the online correction was, it failed to capture the gravity of the errors in the story. However, the complainants reflect a dissenting view and the Media Council does not see their arguments reflected in Bernard Orsman’s stories.

So, why has the RBNZ’s balance sheet become such a behemoth? Reserve Bank governor Adrian Orr is at the helm of the central bank as it starts shrinking the size of its massive balance sheet. This will shrink the size of the RBNZ’s balance sheet, making it more palatable for it to print money again in a future crisis. Building of foreign reservesThe second reason why the RBNZ’s balance sheet has grown is because of something entirely different. A larger balance sheet means it’s more exposed to interest rates and foreign exchange rates changing.

Under the late Hurricanes assault on the Blues' line, Tuipulotu said there was little need to remind the players what was required. Or, are you merely one of those whose lives are profoundly influenced by the decisions of Brahmins and Merchants? Hence Piketty’s Brahmins and Merchants. When capitalism ceased to be bounded by the borders of the nation state (thanks primarily to the off-shoring of production) the opportunities for both Merchants and Brahmins expanded to encompass the entire globe. Clearly, the present National-Act-NZ First coalition government is more sympathetic to the values and aspirations of the Merchants than it is to those of the Brahmins. It may be tempting to run roughshod over well-educated and working-class New Zealanders, but it’s a temptation this Merchants government would be well-advised to resist.

But we can also see this current overall sales level is only at the April 2018 level, so the 'growth' only underscores how weak it has been recently. A week ago it was at 4.89%. For reference it was US$2300 a week ago, so up +3.0% in the past seven days. These are both the same levels of a week ago. That all means our TWI-5 starts today just under 69.6 unchanged from Saturday but marginally firmer from a week ago.

This was a provision introduced by the last National Government designed to ensure that Oranga Tamariki had a proper partnership with Iwi authorities. The Tribunal expedited the release of the decision because a Cabinet decision is imminent. This is the periodic review of the legislation and policy provided for in section 448B of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989. The report suggests that Chhour had not even thought about the implications for the Treaty of the Repeal.
