PAK’nSAVE’s iconic Stickman has a new gig this Christmas as he joins The Breeze radio station for a special hour long show with Robert Scott on Friday, December 9. While Stickman is no stranger to broadcasting, often getting his message across this platform, this time he is shaking things up by turning iconic songs into ‘savey’ messages without spending a cent on royalties. Using the stage name DJ SAVE-A-LOT, Stickman will be the first brand mascot to host his own radio show in New Zealand. “His followers loved it so much that we devised a plan to spread the savey tunes a little further. $291,000 rare sports car a likely write-off after crashEmergency services attended a two-car head-on collision near Outram at the weekend that will prove to be very expensive. A police spokesman said officers were called to the collision in Lee Stream-Outram Rd (State Highway 87) about noon on Saturday. One was a silver Toyota Corolla hatchback, while the other was a white Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 RS. The sports car has a 4.0-litre flat-six engine that makes a hefty 368kW and 449Nm of torque. The Toyota Corolla is understood to be a rental vehicle, which was being driven by a British man.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is facing an uphill battle for re-election next year, based on the latest opinion polls. The result puts Ardern’s Labour Government at risk of losing its majority at next year’s election with the Nationals and ACT now projected to secure 64 MPs, three more than the 61 required. To make matters worse, support for Jacinda Ardern has fallen to 29%, which is her worst approval rating since her coming into office in 2017. Separate polling from Roy Morgan Research shows the majority of New Zealanders (55%) believe the country is going in the ‘wrong direction’. These are dastardly circumstances to be heading into an election and it will take a minor miracle for Jacinda Ardern to secure a third term.

Hamish Kilgour had been missing for more than a week when he was found dead on Monday. First in the US, the widely-watched ISM services PMI rose to record a healthy expansion, and by more than expected. There is clearly a revised approach to pandemic control underway there, and it comes as case numbers rise sharply. And those bad options are playing out in their economy; their services sector recorded a terrible November PMI, much worse than the official view. And India is in an even better state still, with their services sector expanding at about the same pace as the US. That all means our TWI-5 starts today at 71.6 and back to where it was in the middle of last week.

An Alexandra farmer whose first-ever descent of the Nevis Bluff rapids in a jet-boat a year ago spawned a viral internet video, has been slapped with a $1500 fine. O’Sullivan was prosecuted by the Queenstown Lakes District Council for breaching its Navigation Safety Bylaw 2018, which prohibits powered vessels from a section of the river that includes the rapids. A dramatic five-minute YouTube video of O’Sullivan negotiating the rapids has had about 50,000 views. First contacted by the council about the incident in February, he admitted his actions in a formal interview in April. The bylaw was well understood by most boaties and there was no excuse for taking risks and putting others in danger.

The body of a missing diver has been found off the coast of Wellington. A local, who did not want to be identified, said the first police car arrived at Karaka Bay about 6.30pm on Monday. Karaka Bay Rd was cordoned off while search efforts continued, but has now reopened. Simon Richard Hughes, 35, appeared in the Dunedin District Court last week where he was jailed for three months after pleading guilty to two wilful damage charges. The court was told Hughes got out of jail on November 15 but by 12.30am the following morning, police were called to his residence. Hughes had damaged a television, a fridge, a microwave, a barbecue, pot plants, furniture, walls and windows, the court heard.
