Well, something similar happened to credit card users across New Zealand recently that too at a time when the country has fallen into recession. It turns out that a third-party provider experienced a technical error which caused duplicate payments to be made among New Zealand Bank (BNZ) customers who used their cards to pay for goods and services between 10pm and 10.30pm. They said: "BNZ is supporting our customers who have been impacted by a technical issue caused by an external credit card service provider. "Approximately 500 Kiwibank customers may have experienced issues using their credit cards this morning due to a vendor technical issue," they said.

Photo / ODTA section of road has subsided and water has flowed into a hotel basement after a “significant” burst water main which has closed Fernhill Rd in Queenstown. The road is closed near the Heritage Hotel between Sainsbury Rd and the One Mile roundabout. The last message received indicated contractors had managed to slow the flow of water, however, water had gone into the Heritage’s lower basement. The Heritage Hotel could not respond to a request for comment.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said three people had managed to get out of the vehicle without assistance. One person was taken to Oamaru Hospital by ambulance and another was airlifted by helicopter to Dunedin Hospital in a moderate condition. WorkSafe was notified and was making initial inquiries however a spokesman said it was not an investigation at this stage.

It means eligible parents will see an increase in the parental leave payment from $661.12 per week to $712.17 per week, before tax. Paid parental leave is set to go up on July 1 by $51 a week for new parents - and $1327 for those taking the full 26 weeks of parental leave. Paid parental leave rates are pegged to the average wage, so would lift by 7.7 per cent, Hipkins said today. The Budget will also mean that from mid-2024, new parents will receive a 3 per cent Government contribution to their KiwiSaver while on paid parental leave, provided they continue their own KiwiSaver contributions.
