Your local butcher, the independent firm in this analogy, is the heart of the community. Their solutions may not always fit the local palate, reflecting global trends more than local flavours. What’s more, their vast global footprint frequently leaves multinational professional services firms without a localised centre of moral gravity. Independent operators deliver professional service that’s not only about understanding the local market but being a part of it. In the end, while multinationals may offer the world, independents – like the local butcher – offer a slice of home: familiar, bespoke, and most importantly a joy to work with.

Electric vehicles will lose their long-time exemption from road user charges (RUCs) on April 1, Transport Minister Simeon Brown confirmed this afternoon. Brown said that concern had been addressed by a lower RUC rate for PHEVs, whose owners will pay $53 per 1000km. If EVs maintained their RUC exemption as NZ’s fleet electrifies, the Crown would be left with a $2b hole in its books. Overall, she supported the elimination of electric vehicles RUC exemption, however. It’s time for EV owners to pay their fair share,” Wiley said.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said the father was parked at Unity Park late yesterday evening when the assault happened. When the father got out of his car, the man started arguing with him. He told the father he “shouldn’t have a baby out this late”, and punched him in the back of the head, Bond said. A vehicle was driving over road cones in the area before the driver fled the area and crashed into a parked car in Eglinton Rd, Mornington.

Shinta Mani Mustang, created by American hotel designer Bill Bensley, stands in the Lower Mustang Valley at an elevation of 2,800 metres. The Amchi does not appear in any guidebooks, and it’s immersion like this that typifies the experience at this new hotel in Nepal; Shinta Mani Mustang, a Bensley Collection. But the Shinta Mani label is his own, and for this hotel, Bensley is a co-owner with the Nepalese family owned Sherpa Hospitality Group. I found myself in the bustling heart of Jemaa El-Fnaa markets, in Marrakech, when a wave of unease swept over me. Legitimate tour guides in Morocco always wear their lanyard to prove they are certified. Photo / Sarah PollokThe dread was because, just several days prior, I had been promised such a ‘shortcut’ by a stranger. As I would learn, it saved me from a potentially dangerous but allegedly common tourist trap in Morocco. Before visiting Morocco, friends expressed concerns about me exploring cities alone, but my initial day in Marrakech surprised me with the warmth of its people.

Your supporters and Green Party voters need to hear your side of the story. If so, let’s rock that frock, but we need to hear an explanation so we can put these allegations to rest. Golriz either provides a credible explanation to these allegations or she needs to stand down. The glee so many seem to have in destroying Golriz tells us just how polarised NZ politics has become. Ok. Golriz has resigned – can we now get back to why the fuck NZ is enabling the bombing of the Houthie?

The email was requesting private information about council staff such as their names and addresses. "My official response, as Mayor of Thames-Coromandel District Council, to your request for personal details of staff names and addresses, is this. Speaking to Stuff, Salt said he believed the email came from a person associated with Sovereign Citizens. "If people were to say this is not the language or decorum you expect from a mayor, I would take that criticism on the chin," Salt said. In a climate of increasing hostility towards elected representatives and their staff, I believe it was necessary."

Green MP Golriz Ghahraman has resigned from Parliament. I am proud of my advocacy work on human rights and foreign affairs, and particularly proud of campaigns that resulted in practical improvements to the electoral laws governing donations and overseas voting,” Ghahraman said. The Green MP said that her mental health had been “badly affected” by the stress of her work as an MP. It’s not a behaviour I can explain because it’s not rational in any way, and after medical evaluation, I understand I’m not well,” Ghahraman said. ”The mental health professional I see says my recent behaviour is consistent with recent events giving rise to extreme stress response, and relating to previously unrecognised trauma,” she said.
