NEW DELHI (March 3): The US-Israeli war on Iran and the crisis it has triggered in the Gulf region have evoked great anxiety for India, New Delhi said on Tuesday, as it reiterated its call for dialogue and diplomacy to secure an "early end to the conflict". India has high stakes in the Gulf region as an estimated 10 million Indians live and work there. "As a proximate neighbour with critical stakes in the security and stability of the region, these developments evoke great anxiety," the statement said. He has also spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and stressed the need for an early cessation of hostilities. Not bad for a two-hour walking tour around the usually hot and humid Kuala Lumpur. This was our first experience with a night walking tour (and not a horror-themed one at that). The mural commemorates the late multi-hyphenate talent’s concert that was held for free at Jalan Chow Kit on April 14, 1986. Chow Kit is a historic enclave, but it carries a stigmatised reputation that it continues to try and break free from. At the very least, you gain the experience of doing a heritage-rich night walking tour, if that’s something you’ve never done before.

(March 3): A US$1.75 trillion (RM6.85 trillion) valuation for billionaire Elon Musk’s SpaceX in an initial public offering (IPO) would be “justifiable”, according to a PitchBook analyst. At that valuation, investors would be willing to ascribe SpaceX a price-to-sales ratio of more than 100-times on a trailing basis, the analyst estimated. The debate around valuation will come down to the willingness of investors to assign a “platform premium” to SpaceX, the analyst said. PitchBook estimates SpaceX could bring in US$150 billion of revenue in 2040, a roughly tenfold jump from last year’s nearly US$16 billion. The analyst also noted that SpaceX is grappling with a regulatory bottleneck that could hold up its planned cycle.

(March 3): Absent a “real” strategy in his aggressive foreign policy, US President Donald Trump is nonetheless revealing an emergent style or pattern. From Iran, which he is currently pounding, to Venezuela and perhaps Cuba and other countries, he’s not interested in building democracies, but in erecting puppet states. “What we did in Venezuela, I think, is the perfect, the perfect scenario,” Trump told the New York Times in a conversation about his ongoing campaign against Iran. Beyond that tactical success, the Trump administration seems to have given little thought to possible leadership transitions. As bombs detonate across the Middle East, it is far too early to predict who will eventually govern Iran and its long-oppressed people.
