Libya’s National Oil Corp (NOC) said on Wednesday that crude production had resumed at several oilfields, after lifting force majeure on oil exports last week. Production has also resumed from the Nafoura, Tibesti, al-Ghani and al-Bayda oilfields belonging to Harouge Oil Operations and Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO). “Production at the two companies will be increased gradually after restarting the other fields,” NOC said. A tanker entered Ras Lanuf port to ship 600 000 barrels of crude, it said, while another has arrived at the Zueitina oil terminal and will be loaded with one million barrels on Thursday. (Bloomberg) — Oil fell as investors assessed signs of subdued US gasoline demand and the return of supplies from Libya. The drop came after a US report showed that gasoline inventories rose more than expected last week, while sluggish demand for the fuel pushed gasoline premiums against crude oil. Production in Libya is now above 700,000 barrels per day, after restrictions on the country’s exports were lifted in recent days. Traders also followed events in Europe as Russia’s largest gas pipeline to the continent restarted after a 10-day maintenance period. Most read from Bloomberg Businessweek©2022 Bloomberg LP

Oil prices fell on Thursday for the second consecutive session, as demand concerns overshadowed limited global supplies after US government data showed tepid gasoline consumption during the peak summer driving season. US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 48 cents, or 0.5 percent, to $99.40 a barrel, after falling 1.9 percent on Wednesday. Government data showed that gasoline stocks in the United States rose 3.5 million barrels last week. The data showed that the supply of gasoline – a proxy for demand – was about 8.5 million barrels per day, or about 7.6 percent.

The High Council of State (HCS) said its members discussed on Wednesday, in a session chaired by Khalid Al-Mishri, the outcomes of constitutional track that was held with the House of Representatives (HoR) under the auspices of the United Nations, saying voting will be next Monday on the draft constitutional document. Local media reported that the HCS had rejected a proposal submitted by the Presidential Council to hold parliamentary elections before the presidential ones, provided that candidates who hold the citizenships of other countries renounce them before running for presidential elections. HCS member Abdulkader Al-Hawaili said it was very strange that the HCS had rejected the Presidential Council's proposal, which he said was a compromise solution to the issue of the candidacy of dual nationals and would prevent them from assuming the position of head of a state before submitting an official acknowledgment of renunciation of foreign citizenship. He said that he would seek to re-discuss the proposal at the HCS session next Monday.

The Italian military hospital continues to stir up questions over the justification for its presence since the facility achieved its declared objective years ago. However, the Italian facility is still present in Misurata despite the fact that it is officially listed as a concluded operation. Over the years, Italian commanders who run the facility avoided to disclose its current exact role after it had accomplished its declared mission. Instead, Italian military leaders gave obscure statements to journalists about the nature of hospital’s work. “Today our mission has evolved,” Figliuolo told Italian soldiers in Misurata.
