UNITED NATIONS (AP) — After two years of discourse dominated by the coronavirus pandemic, this year's U.N. General Assembly has a new occupant of center stage: the war in Ukraine. Russia is a key ally of Kazakhstan, and the war in Ukraine has left the former Soviet country in an awkward spot. Antonio Guterres opened the General Assembly by touting Ukraine and Russia's deal — with the help of Turkey — over grain shipments as an example of successful multilateral diplomacy. The voice that won’t be silent, voice that will continue to testify about Russia’s crimes in Ukraine,” she said Tuesday. For more AP coverage of the U.N. The Minister of Economy in the Government of National Unity (GNU), Mohammed Al-Huweij, said that the oil sector in Libya constitutes about 70% of the gross domestic product (GDP), and contributes to financing more than 90% of the total public revenues in the country. Al-Huweij added in an interview with Al-Jazeera Mubasher TV Channel that the decline in GDP is related to crude production, saying that the decreased oil exports led to a drop in the country's GDP because the Libyan economy is a rentier one. Al-Huweij also attributed the inflation in Libya to the alteration in the exchange rate of the dinar, pointing out that the Government of National Unity started new investments in the oil sector to develop wells. He also said that the government would begin a full partnership with specialized international companies.

“To this year we came to a total number of about 100 million people forcibly displaced. While many children and adults — usually women — were forced from their homes by drought, food insecurity and armed conflict, there are also 1.5 million children who were born as refugees. (AFP)“That is as a result of conflict, as a result of climate, as a result of a number of reasons. After 11 years of conflict, those displaced by the Syrian war are beginning to become a forgotten cause. “We have about 11 million refugees in 42 countries, which are dependent on food assistance,” Mazou said.

Data indicate that as many as 52% of murders committed in South Africa (where causes could be established) relate to organised crime and inter-group violence. “This is an existential crisis but South Africa has a degree of resilience,” says Mark Shaw, the Director of the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime. The country assessment shows that the majority of 15 crime measures levels are increasing with very few stable. This week’s descent into Stage 6 hell is an example of organised crime at work because Eskom’s entire system of operations has been destabilised. It links three trends: the growth of organised crime, the rise of elite corruption and the erosion of state institutions.

America’s gas prices rise for the first time in 99 daysBy Matt Egan, CNN BusinessThe historic streak of falling gasoline prices is over. Another major factor that had been driving gas prices lower: Growing concerns of a global recession that could hurt demand for gas. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the sanctions that followed, that helped to spark the steep rise in oil and gas prices. Gas prices will probably remain relatively close to the current levels in the near term, said Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis for OPIS, which tracks gas prices nationally for AAA.
