Monrovia- Liberia continues to grapple with entrenched gender-based violence (GBV), economic exclusion, and limited women’s participation in decision-making, challenges clearly articulated in the Government’s Aid Investment and Development (AAID) framework. By Jaheim T. [email protected]The high prevalence of sexual violence, harmful social norms, women’s economic dependency, and weak community-level prevention mechanisms remain persistent obstacles to inclusive peace and recovery. The project focused on strengthening women’s economic resilience and leadership as entry points for GBV prevention and social cohesion—an approach consistent with both the WPS agenda and Liberia’s national development priorities. This aligns directly with Liberia’s commitment under the AAID to promote women’s participation in governance and community decision-making as a pathway to sustainable peace. While long-term impact will depend on sustained investment and institutional support, the second-quarter results suggest that locally anchored women’s leadership initiatives can deliver measurable gains in resilience, prevention, and inclusion.
Monrovia- The Ministry of National Defense has reiterated its call for the immediate evacuation of all illegal occupants from Camp Ramrod Military Barracks, widely known as the 72nd Barracks. By Jaheim T. [email protected]In a statement issued, the Ministry emphasized: “The Ministry encourages civilians who are currently within and around the barracks unlawfully to respectfully but firmly evacuate the barracks within a period of fourteen (14) days as of Monday, January 19, 2026.”Assistant Minister for Public Affairs, Oscar F. Mulbah said, “The 72nd Military Barracks and all other restricted military zones are not designated for civilian residence or activities. Continued presence may place civilians at risk and interfere with essential operations.”Authorities disclosed that during the voluntary evacuation period, the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) Engineering Battalion will begin erecting physical barricades to demarcate the property. The Ministry assured the public that “no personal belongings will be confiscated during the evacuation and that no action will be taken against those who comply promptly and peacefully.”Camp Ramrod has been occupied illegally since the Liberian Civil War, with repeated efforts to reclaim the property proving unsuccessful. The Ministry underscored the strategic importance of the barracks, stating: “Camp Ramrod Military Barracks, also referenced as the 72nd Barracks, is strategic to Liberia’s national security in providing rapid response to queer down any uprising/chaos that would require the deployment of the Armed Forces of Liberia on the northwestern flank of Monrovia.”It further revealed that of the thirty-seven (37) acres of land currently occupied, only thirteen (13) acres remain under AFL control, earmarked for renovations.
“The Court lacks subject-matter jurisdiction to conduct a stand-alone investigative exercise,” the Clar Hope Foundation stated. Foundation Argues “No Case, No Subpoena”The Clar Hope Foundation contends that, under Liberian law, a subpoena—whether to compel testimony or document production—can only be issued in aid of an existing judicial proceeding. Court Not an Investigative Body, Foundation SaysThe Foundation stressed that Criminal Court “A” lacks authority to conduct a “stand-alone investigative exercise,” emphasizing that courts are adjudicatory, not inquisitorial, bodies. “To our donors, partners, beneficiaries, and the Liberian public: The Clar Hope Foundation remains steadfast in uplifting vulnerable children and communities. Monrovia – The Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) over the weekend officially endorsed two high-ranking officials to lead its Secretariat and technical wing during the body’s 2025 General Assembly.
