His call for impartial, non-politicised investigations into the planners, executors, and enablers of such violence is constitutionally sound and morally necessary. Kenya’s history is littered with condemnations of violence that were never matched by investigations, prosecutions, or consequences, producing a culture of impunity. Democracies do not collapse first through coups; they collapse through normalisation of violence, intimidation, selective enforcement, and political lawlessness. It is about precedent: if violence in churches can be excused today, violence in markets will be excused tomorrow; if violence against worshippers can be normalised today, violence against voters will be normalised tomorrow; if intimidation works today, democracy dies tomorrow. It normalises political violence, erodes the state’s legitimacy, and quietly raises the stakes for retaliation as we head toward 2027.

US President Donald Trump has said that American oil companies will go to Venezuela, in light of the South American country's recent efforts to boost foreign investment in its energy sector. Trump has since demanded “full access” to Venezuela’s oil. The major oil companies are going into Venezuela right now, looking at it and choosing their locations," Trump declared. Venezuela, which holds the world's largest proven oil reserves at about 303 billion barrels, nationalized the assets of US companies in the 2000s during the presidency of socialist Hugo Chavez. Washington responded by imposing crippling sanctions on Venezuela's oil industry.

[AFP]Clinton Nyapara Mogesa, a Kenyan citizen born in 1997, has been confirmed dead while serving with Russian forces in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian Defence Intelligence has reported. Mogesa had been living and working in Qatar before signing a contract with the Russian military and being assigned to one of its assault units. “At one of the positions of Russian occupation forces, our intelligence identified the body of Clinton Nyapara Mogesa, a citizen of the Republic of Kenya,” the Ukrainian Defence Intelligence statement read. According to the Intelligence, Mogesa was found carrying passports belonging to two other Kenyan nationals, indications, they say, could be a potential recruitment of other foreign citizens under similar circumstances. Ukrainian Defence Intelligence now warns foreign citizens against traveling to Russia or accepting employment there, citing risks of forced deployment to military units.

The Ministry of Education has confirmed the deaths of two teachers and a learner in two separate road accidents in Nairobi and Nyeri counties earlier today. In Nairobi, tragedy struck at the City Primary School in Ngara when a public service vehicle rammed into a group of teachers participating in union elections. Up to 26 others were injured and are currently receiving treatment, according to the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Migos Ogamba. In Nairobi, witnesses reported the driver of the public service vehicle appeared to lose control before veering into the group of teachers.
