Aiming to be open next Thursday, March 7, on Main Street in Keswick, No Monkey Business, led by Vicki Mallaghan who also operated Café Hope in the town will be embarking on a new frontier for Cumbria’s nightlife. Stressing that this is not a children’s bar or a youth club and is aimed towards adults who simply don’t drink, Vicki said the bar will bring something fresh to nighttime drinking culture and offer something different that a new generation of people have secretly wanted. Young people of Generation Z are drinking far less than their predecessors – Millennials – who are said to drink less than their elders – Generation X. But this isn’t about going out to drink coke and juice, alcohol free drinks that are targeted towards adults and new herbal and fungal-based ‘mood altering’ drinks are entering the market and will feature at this new bar. “It can still be just as fun without the alcohol,” Vicki said.

Trump is disqualified from Illinois ballot, judge rulesAn Illinois state judge on Wednesday barred Donald Trump from appearing on the Illinois’ Republican presidential primary ballot because of his role in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, but she delayed her ruling from taking effect in light of an expected appeal by the former U.S. president. Cook County Circuit Judge Tracie Porter sided with Illinois voters who argued that the former president should be disqualified from the state’s March 19 primary ballot and its Nov. 5 general election ballot for violating the anti-insurrection clause of the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment. The final outcome of the Illinois case and similar challenges will likely be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court, which heard arguments related to Trump’s ballot eligibility on Feb. 8. Porter said she was staying her decision because she expected his appeal to Illinois’ appellate courts, and a potential ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court. The advocacy group Free Speech For People, which spearheaded the Illinois disqualification effort, praised the ruling as a “historic victory” in a statement.

It will take more than prayers to heal this nationThursday, February 29th, 2024 08:38 | By Stephen NdegwaCharlene, daughter of President William Ruto, with American preacher Benny Hinn at a prayer meeting in Nairobi over the weekend. PHOTO/PrintThe recent visit by 71-year-old Israeli-born American-Canadian televangelist Pastor Toufik Benedictus “Benny” Hinn raised a lot of excitement for various reasons. On the other hand, we have the so called born-again Christians, who eat, walk, sleep and wax lyrical on matters Biblical. Being in the stadium was reveling in the aura of Christ himself in the persona of Pastor Hinn. Healing this nation needs diligence, sacrifice, sincere contrition, and similar Christian virtues.

Bitcoin is climbing toward its all-time high of $68,991. At 1325 GMT, bitcoin traded at about $60,301, closing in on its all-time high of $68,991 -- that was struck in November 2021 and which some analysts believe is now within reach. Since their approval on January 10 by US securities regulators, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) indexed to bitcoin have theoretically enabled a wider public to invest in the cryptocurrency without having to hold it directly.
