Nominated Senator Crystal Asige has condemned the government over its alleged use of brute force in containing Gen Z protesters on Tuesday which left several youths dead. In a statement on X, Friday, Asige said the government has demonstrated through its handling of dissenting voices on the Finance Bill that it can no longer be trusted. President William Ruto on Wednesday declined to assent to the contentious Finance Bill, 2024 and sent it back to the National Assembly asking MPs to delete all clauses. Azimio la Umoja coalition co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has threatened International Criminal Court (ICC) intervention over alleged atrocities committed during the Anti-Finance bill protests. He said the alleged atrocities committed during the protests call for immediate action from the ICC. "As Senior counsel, we are going to document every incident and even revisit the International Criminal Court, talk to them about the atrocities committed against the Kenyans," he said. Kalonzo challenged President William Ruto to speak against the shooting of protesters during the demos. Kalonzo further called out the government spokesperson, police Inspector General and regional commander for not addressing the alleged atrocities on protesters.

Azimio la Umoja coalition co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka visited casualties of the anti-Finance Bill protest at Kenyatta National Hospital on Friday. Kalonzo saw patients with bullet wounds and others with injured fingers in the wards. The patients were injured during Tuesday's protests against the Finance Bill, 2024. He thanked them for fighting for the country and said they were heroes for defending the rights of many Kenyans. The patients also urged Kalonzo to do his best to ensure what they fought for was not in vain.

Companies in the West Midlands reported lower confidence in their own business prospects month-on-month, down 22 points at 36 per cent.
