Tragedy struck a village in Bomet County when a 30-year-old woman slaughtered her two children before dying by suicide. The bodies of the two children aged 12 and three were found sprawled in her house on Saturday in Chebisian village, Merigi Location, police said. Her body was found hanging on a truss in the house long after the incident had happened. Police had to break into the house where they found the bodies of the children in a pool of blood. Other reasons are bullying, previous suicide attempts, history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression and bipolar disorder.

The judge overseeing Donald Trump's 2020 election interference case has dismissed an effort to have it thrown out. Trump has been accused of spearheading a widespread effort to overthrow the results of the presidential election he lost to Joe Biden. In a motion to dismiss it, Trump's lawyers argued he had been singled out for prosecution while other people who questioned the election results had not been. His lawyers also suggested Trump's political opponents had launched the prosecution to prevent him from winning re-election. Judge Chutkan has scheduled a fresh hearing on 16 August to discuss next steps in the case.
