The 9.2kg of cannabis was discovered concealed and vacuum-sealed within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight from Thailand. A man in his 20s was subsequently arrested and detained at a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region. He has since been charged to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Friday. The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis, gardaí said, and investigations are ongoing.

Spending on Valentine's Day dropped notably this year, with a 14% fall despite spikes across several consumer categories.
