United States President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have reportedly agreed to increase pressure on Iran to limit oil exports to China, according to an Axios report citing two US officials. Representatives from Iran and US conducted extensive talks last week, with mediation from Oman, after Trump bolstered US navy presence in the region. Trump believes a deal can be reached with Iran, while Netanyahu thinks Iran will not abide by it. Pressure from this move is expected to make Iran more open to concessions on its nuclear program, it said. A second official told Axios there is "zero chance" that Iran or the US will agree to what the other proposes.

India is a “very successful” emerging economy with growing influence in global affairs and is the “right place” to host the AI summit, UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres has said. The summit, being held from February 16 to 20, will be the first AI summit hosted in the Global South, guided by the principles of ‘People, Planet and Progress’. The US Department of Justice sent a letter to lawmakers regarding redactions in the files pertaining to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Politico reported on Saturday. The letter, required by law, includes a general description of the types of redactions made, and a list of notable people mentioned in the files in any way. ADVERTISEMENTThe letter also includes an extensive list of high-profile people or "politically exposed persons" referenced in the files, even if they had no interactions with Epstein or his longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, but were mentioned in sources such as press clippings. The letter, sent to the leaders of the Senate and House Judiciary committees, does not state in what context a name appears. The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
