KOCHI: The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has strengthened its airside safety infrastructure with the induction of a state-of-the-art runway rubber removal machine. Each aircraft, on touchdown, deposits approximately 1.5 pounds of rubber per tyre in the touchdown zone. Over time, these deposits clog the cavities and microstructure of the runway surface, resulting in a highly polished, glassy finish that reduces runway friction. Jinu said, “It uses high-pressure water jets, operating at around 2,500 bar, combined with specially angled rotating discs to dislodge rubber deposits. The loosened material is immediately suctioned into a waste-water tank, ensuring that no water or residue remains on the runway surface.”

Instead, Taapsee Pannu points fingers at the whimsicality of the audience that she claims is rejecting women-centric films. Sci-fi mystery Dobaaraa (2022) wasn’t watched even once by most, and her own production Blurr (2022) was a clear loser. It’s therefore not the audience that has lost its plot as Taapsee has been insinuating while promoting her latest film Assi. Go back to the drawing board and script an engaging film.

Gen Alpha, raised in homes where voice assistants like Alexa answer before adults do, is showing signs of turning away from technology. This is the first cohort born entirely into the age of the smartphone, social media and algorithmic feeds. For Gen Z, social media carried novelty and status. These older formats demand choice and attention, which gives Gen Alpha a sense of agency. ADVERTISEMENTThe retreat, revealingly, includes a wariness regarding Artificial Intelligence even though it has embedded itself quickly into education, entertainment and communication and is used widely by Gen Alpha.

ADVERTISEMENTIt took a while for cricket’s erstwhile bosses, England and Australia, to come to terms with this reality, but 25 years into this century, every cricketing nation has come to accept that India is world cricket’s paymaster. Likewise, the lopsidedness of cricket’s finances is what it is and the BCCI’s clout in the cricketing world is not bad or wrong in itself. The de facto dominance of Test cricket’s calendar by India, England and Australia is understandable. You could argue that this triumvirate could play more Tests with other full members of the ICC, but Test cricket has been unequally distributed since it began. India didn’t pioneer the unequal distribution of bilateral Test cricket and it is unreasonable to blame it for notcreating a perfectly equitable cricketing order.
