HYDERABAD: The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Task Force has frozen properties worth Rs 6.88 crore belonging to six key accused in the illegal manufacture and sale of alprazolam-laced toddy. The officials estimated the market value of these assets to be about Rs 33 crore. Investigations revealed that the prime accused, managing partners of Stanchem Chemicals, acquired Sai Priya Chemicals for a declared Rs 1.2 crore, while actually routing Rs 7.26 crore generated from illicit sale of alprazolam. The forfeited assets, confirmed by the Competent Authority (SAFEMA) in Chennai, through orders dated July 2, 2025 and February 20, 2026, include properties of eight accused.

IDFC First Bank has informed its board, the Reserve Bank of India and statutory auditors about the development. AU Small Finance BankAU Small Finance Bank has denied any wrongdoing in connection with the alleged fraud involving Haryana government-linked accounts. The Haryana government has de-empanelled both AU Small Finance Bank and IDFC First Bank from undertaking government business. Shares of AU Small Finance Bank fell 5.2 per cent on the BSE on Monday.

Extending its winning streak for a second consecutive session, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 479.95 points, or 0.58 per cent, to settle at 83294.66. During the session, the benchmark jumped 671.44 points, or 0.81 per cent, to hit an intraday high of 83486.15. “The US Supreme Court’s ruling against Trump’s reciprocal tariff policy was welcomed by domestic markets,” Vinod Nair, head of research at Geojit Investments Ltd, said. Shares of brokerage firms fell last week on concerns that the rules would impact brokers’ profit margins and reduce trading volumes. The rules were finalised after consultation, RBI governor Sanjay Malhotra said at a press conference following the bank’s board meeting.
