Executive Director of the Bureau, Nana Yaw Akwada in an interaction with Citi Business News monitored by GhanaWeb said state agencies must put in place measures to regulate and ensure the safety of petroleum product activity. “I think we should appreciate the fact that with the ever-increasing number of Oil Marketing Companies, transportation of petroleum products is also going to increase. Most recently, some three persons lost their lives when a fuel tanker en-route to Onyina Nofo, a suburb of the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region exploded.

She noted that the deceased's father reported the case to the Agbogba Police after the management of the school called him to inform him that his daughter was sick and had been taken to the North Legon Hospital. Upon their arrival, the deceased 11-month-old was pronounced dead. Police investigators visited the hospital to examine the baby’s body and subsequently took it to the Police Hospital morgue for an autopsy to be conducted. The report is yet to be made available to the family, DSP Effia Tenge has said.
