Al-Shammari emphasized the significance of this step in opening up a new market for recruiting domestic workers to meet Kuwait’s labor market demands. Al-Shammari highlighted the importance of diversifying the sources of domestic workers to create a balance in the market and alleviate shortages. Furthermore, Al-Shammari urged the relevant authorities to raise awareness among recruitment agencies, office owners, and employers about the new executive regulations governing domestic workers. These regulations aim to protect the rights of domestic workers and have been widely accepted within the recruitment community.

Togo’s ruling Union for the Republic party (UNIR) has won a sweeping majority in the country’s legislative elections held on 29 April. Provisional results published late Saturday by the electoral commission showed it had won 108 out of the 113 seats in parliament. The results pave the way for President Faure Gnassingbé to extend his 19-year rule, under the new charter. After boycotting the last legislative election, they had been hoping to gain more seats in parliament enabling them to challenge UNIR. Gnassingbé came took control of Togo in 2005 when his father, Gnassingbé Eyadéma, died after ruling the country for almost 40 years.

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) estimates 27,000 Sudanese refugees in Amhara and 20,000 in Benishangul-Gumuz. These dire conditions have driven many refugees to leave the camps, venturing into the unknown.
