The ministry confirmed that the death toll of the Israeli aggression had risen to 25,490, while the number of injured had reached 63,354. On Monday, Israeli media reported that the occupation army began expanding its ground operation in Khan Yunis.

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, witnessed on Monday, the launch of the annual scientific conference of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, which is being held this year under the title “Emergency Medicine,” from January 22 to 23. Abdel Ghaffar noted the importance of having unified guidelines among all medical facilities in various parts of the country to deal with emergency cases so far, pointing to the role of the Egyptian Health Council in developing guidelines in this regard. He also referred to the Medical Liability Law, which will contribute to organizing problems that occur due to the lack of unified guidelines. He further reviewed the state’s plan to establish a medical city for hospitals and educational institutes. The city will include 18 educational medical institutes, with a capacity of 4,000 beds in one place, research centres, central laboratories, and hotels to attract medical tourism.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with the Chairman of the Greek Copelouzos Group, Dimitrios Copelouzos, on Monday in Brussels. The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, and some senior company executives. Al-Sisi was also briefed on the group’s plans for producing renewable energy in Egypt, and the efforts to cooperate with Egypt on a 9.5 gigawatt wind and photovoltaic power production project. The project will support the Egyptian economy and contribute to the transition to clean energy in Egypt and Europe. In the northern Gaza Strip, clashes resumed between the Israeli army and the resistance forces, especially in the east and west of Gaza City. The Karama and Intelligence Towers areas witnessed fierce fighting, amid air raids and artillery shelling on residential areas. In the centre of the strip, the Israeli army resumed its intense attacks on the Nuseirat and Bureij camps and areas in Deir al-Balah, along with ground clashes. The Palestinian Red Crescent also expressed its deep concern for the safety of its staff working at Al Amal Hospital and the association’s headquarters in Khan Yunis. The Al-Quds Brigades said that they bombed a supply line for enemy vehicles east of Jabalia with a barrage of mortar shells, in a joint operation with the Al-Qassam Brigades.

CAIRO – 22 January 2024: Uzbek Ambassador in Cairo Mansurbek Kilichev has underscored the important role played by Egypt to broker a pause of war in Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged Gazans. Uzbek President Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev has allocated 1.5 million dollars for UNRWA activities in Gaza, the diplomat told MENA. He also talked about tourism to Egypt, pointing out that about 40,000 Uzbeks visited the Arab country last year. Tashkent and Cairo have signed a 2023-2025 plan to boost tourism cooperation and provide training for travel guides and simultaneous interpreters, he noted. Cairo – January 21, 2024: Egypt’s commodities exchange seeks to increase the number of products trading on the platform sometime this year, with potential additions including petrochemicals and additional agricultural produce. CEO of the Egyptian Commodities Exchange (EGYCOMEX), Hossam El Garrahi, recently disclosed that the exchange is looking to introduce petrochemicals, iron, cotton, and additional agricultural produce to the platform. Regulations for membership are being finalized and expected to be approved at the first board meeting to be held soon, he added. The EGYCOMEX is currently focused on its transition from auctions to actual trading, and is concentrating on preparing trading operation regulations, he added. As a consequence, varying intensities of rain are expected to fall over northern regions of the country. Additionally, temperatures will experience a decrease throughout the country, ranging from 5 to 4 degrees Celsius. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi affirmed on Sunday that Egypt stands with Somalia against any threat to its security and stability, expressing his rejection of the recent agreement signed between Somaliland and Ethiopia over a port in the Red Sea. In a joint press conference with Somali President Hassan Sheik Mohamud in Cairo, Al-Sisi said: “Egypt supports Somalia and respects its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” adding that the agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia is unacceptable to Egypt and Somalia. Al-Sisi also stressed that the agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland is unacceptable to both Egypt and Somalia. We confirm Egypt’s respect for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Al-Sisi said, noting that this issue was one of the topics discussed with the Somali president.
