Four days after presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump was convicted on 34 counts in his hush money trial in New York, President Joe Biden’s son Hunter will be called to answer for federal gun charges in Wilmington, Delaware. But a CBS/YouGov poll released Sunday showed that Americans believe 57% to 43% that the Manhattan jury reached the right verdict. His inflammatory remarks did not reflect the fact that his refusal to accept his 2020 election loss and his demagoguery are far more reflective of developing-world banana republics than a fair jury trial. Hunter Biden is entitled to the same presumption of innocence and a trial by a jury of his peers that Trump was. “I’d rather be on President Biden’s side of that contrast than on the extreme MAGA Republican side,” he said.

A high-level source said that officials from Egypt, US, and Israel concluded a meeting in Cairo on Sunday, where they discussed the reopening of the Rafah crossing. The Egyptian security delegation emphasized Israel's full responsibility for the obstruction of relief and humanitarian aid materials from entering Gaza. The African National Congress (ANC), South Africa’s ruling party since the end of apartheid, has garnered approximately 40% of the vote in the country’s general elections, as over 99% of ballots have been counted, according to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on Saturday. This election result marks a historic shift as the ANC loses its parliamentary majority for the first time since the all-race vote of 1994, which ended the apartheid era and brought the party to power under Nelson Mandela. The latest count from the IEC reveals that with 99.16% of votes tallied from 23,096 out of 23,292 voting districts, the ANC leads with 6,344,057 votes, translating to 40.25%. Millions of South Africans cast their votes on Wednesday in what has been the most fiercely contested election since the apartheid era ended in 1994. This shift in political dynamics indicates a new era in South African politics, where the ANC must navigate coalition governance to maintain its influence and continue its leadership in the nation.
