CAIRO – 22 June 2022: Egypt will be able to provide a strategic stockpile of medicines, vaccines and serums at a cost of L.E. 2.1 billion, according to Spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Abdel Ghaffar. The spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population pointed out that about 153 fever hospitals were developed during the Corona virus pandemic at a cost of 438 million pounds. “The cost of the plasma derivatives project amounted to 423 million pounds,” said the spokesperson. He further added that an ambulance facility was developed through 84 projects at a cost of 4 billion and 159 million pounds, while the cost of projects for public health initiatives amounted to 5.99 billion pounds.

CAIRO – 22 June 2022: Deputy President of the Parliamentary Assembly for the Mediterranean (PAM) Gennaro Migliore described cooperation with Egypt on combating illegal migration as having been very effective. The Egyptian government aims to develop the Tahrir Complex in order to benefit from it on several levels in the heart of the capital, Cairo. According to Oxford Capital Group, a member of the winning consortium, the development plan will change the name of the Tahrir complex to “Cairo House”, turning it into a luxury hotel and a mixed-use complex. Designed by Chicago-based architect RATIO | smdp, the CairoHouse will include more than 450 luxury hotel rooms and serviced apartments, and numerous world-class dining and entertainment venues. It will also feature a large meeting and event space of 85,000 square feet, including the largest rooftop venue in Cairo. The entire project represents more than US$ 200 million to invest in the repurposing of one of the most emblematic government buildings in downtown Cairo in Egypt and the Middle East.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a “seventh package of European Union sanctions is needed as soon as possible,” in his nightly address on Tuesday. The Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad, Nabila Makram, stressed the need for young Egyptians studying abroad to have access to psychological support, in light of the problems and psychological pressures they suffer within their host countries, often resulting from different cultures. The Minister of Immigration indicated, in a statement, that in light of the interest of the Egyptian state in its youth abroad, a new initiative was launched, aimed at providing psychological support to Egyptian youth studying abroad. CAIRO - 21 June 2022: Agreements signed between Egypt and Saudi Arabia represent a qualitative transfer in investment relations between the two countries, according to CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Mohamed Abdel Wahab. Abdel Wahab elaborated that these agreements will support the infrastructure, logistics and technology sectors; which work to develop the capabilities of the Egyptian economy. The Ajlan & Bros Holding Group signed several investment agreements with the Egyptian side, in the fields of petroleum products, infrastructure, renewable energy, logistics, food industries, food security, the pharmaceutical industry, the automobile industry and the entertainment industry. In the same field, Khwarizmi Ventures and Khazna signed an investment agreement with the aim of expanding in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and providing mobile financial services to the Kingdom's workforce. In the medical and pharmaceutical sector, Jamjoom Pharma announced the inauguration of the Jamjoom Pharma factory in Egypt.

CAIRO – 21 June 2022: Egypt has rehabilitated canals with lengths of up to 5,242 km in different governorates thus far since the national project of lining canals kicked off. The project, launched per the instructions of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, aims to rehabilitate canals with total lengths of 20,000 km at a cost of L.E. The rehabilitation of canals with lengths of up to 4,080 km is underway, in addition to providing financial funds to rehabilitate canals with lengths of 2,728 km in preparation for putting them up for implementation, bringing the total lengths covered by the project to date to 12,050 km . In Qalyubia Governorate, the Ministry aims to rehabilitate canals with lengths of 500 km, and financial funds have been arranged to rehabilitate canals with lengths of 250 km. National Project for lining canalsThe national project for lining the canals is a cultural and qualitative leap that comes within the plans and strategies of the Egyptian state to improve the process of water management and distribution.

Egyptian player Omar Khaled Rizk won the Brazilian state championship in San Paulo for the sport of kung fu paulista on Monday morning, in which 600 players participated. Rizk, 29, was born in Brazil in 1993 to Egyptian parents. Rizk says that his victory in the “Paulista” championship in the state of San Paulo for Kung Fu is a great achievement for him, as the tournament is one of the strongest state championships in kung fu with the most participation in the number of players.

CAIRO – 20 June 2022: Egypt’s Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Ati held a meeting with officials to discuss the outcomes of an Egyptian delegation visit to Iraq to study the establishment of a water treatment plant on the Euphrates River. According to a statement by the Ministry of Irrigation on Monday, a report was discussed during the meeting to establish a treatment plant in Iraq that is similar to Egypt’s Bahr El-Baqar wastewater treatment plant. The Iraqi plant will operate to purify and desalinate water at the Euphrates River to face the decrease in the river’s water in the three Iraqi governorates of Nasiriyah, Diwaniyah, and Basra, according to the ministry. A memorandum of understanding was earlier signed between Egypt and Iraq in the field of water resources. This includes cooperation in the fields of modern irrigation techniques, water reuse and treatment, eradication of desertification, and other fields.

CAIRO – 20 June 2022: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli asserted that Egypt's development experiment over the past eight years has placed it on the world map in several vital sectors, noting that Cairo is ready to offer its expertise to any Arab or African states. Addressing the seventh edition of the Builders of Egypt Forum, the premier praised renewing confidence in Egypt to preside over the African federation of Construction Contractors associations “AFCCA” which held its general assembly meeting on Saturday. He reviewed Egypt's development efforts in the sectors of housing, transport and roads as well as digital transformation. Over the past eight years, Egypt has succeeded in making a great leap in removing the challenges facing such vital sectors, the premier noted. In the housing field, Egypt has managed to end the dangerous slums and moved its residents to safe and livable housing units that suit the various segments, the premier noted.

Egypt - Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said that the state’s general budget for the new FY is the largest in Egypt’s history, as it exceeds EGP 3 trillion. Its total expenditures, according to estimates, are about EGP 2.71 trillion, while the total estimated revenues are EGP 1.18 trillion and EGP 18bn. He added that in implementation of the president’s directives, the allocations for health and education have been increased in the new budget to meet the constitutional entitlement. The total allocations for the university and pre-university education sector amounted to EGP 476.3bn, and EGP 79.3bn for scientific research. Also, the total allocations to the health sector amounted to EGP 310bn.
