MD of MTN then MD of Airtel DRC and GabonIn order to get a foothold on the very competitive telecom market in Cameroon, British firm Vodafone, who entered into partnership with Afrimax group to move into the LTE market, has already acquired the services of Antoine Pamboro. Holding the same position at MTN Cameroon, Antoine Pamboro, well into his fifties, then left the Cameroonian subsidiary of the South African telecom group six months later, for a long African adventure. Adventure which successively led him to head Celtel Congo, Airtel RDC and Airtel Gabon. But, this ambition was cut short by the Ministry of National Education, who offered him a grant to study in France.

About 30 minutes earlier, police blocked the entrance to Mistral and would not allow anyone to leave. Police then ordered people to leave the bar and checked for identification cards at the exit. Outside, with or without ID cards, all the bar patrons were ordered onto police trucks.In a country where gay men are stigmatized, with a law against homosexual activity, people feared that being rounded up at a gay bar would have troubling consequences for their personal lives and their relationships with family members. As if it were a commando operation, armed police searched inside the bar for people hiding there.

To bridge the gap and shift the disturbing 9 of every 10 women entrepreneurs from the informal sector to the formal sector, the International Labour Organisation (ILO), in collaboration with GICAM, have come up with a project to impact 300 women with business management and enterprise-creation skills. It will train 200 women in business management skills and 100 others in enterprise-creation skills. According to Vera Perdigao Paguete, Head of Labour Office in Cameroon, the emergence of the country cannot be complete without women. The project will encourage women to be self-reliant in order to better contribute to emergence, she said.
