DHAKA, May 30, 2024 (BSS)- A pedestrian was killed in a gas cylinder explosion at ground floor of a three-story building in the city's Badda area this morning. The deceased was identified as Solaiman,36, a hotel boy hailed from Phulbariaupazila under Mymensingh district. After receiving the information, two firefighting units from Baridhara Fire Station rushed to the spot and recovered body of the victim. The primary investigation showed that the incident happened from the leakage gas cylinder blast on the ground floor of the building. But the it will be confirmed after the investigation, said the fire official.

Delhi recorded a temperature of 36 C which felt like 37.8 C on Thursday morning, according to India's weather department. It has predicted heat wave to severe heat wave conditions over northwest and central India will begin reducing gradually from today. India classifies a heat wave as a situation where the maximum temperature is 4.5 C to 6.4 C above normal, while a severe heat wave occurs when the maximum is higher than normal by 6.5 degrees or more.

REUTERSIndia's Paytm is not in talks to sell a stake in itself, while neither billionaire Gautam Adani nor his namesake power-to-ports group are looking to buy shares in the embattled digital payments firm, the companies said on Wednesday. However, a spokesperson for the Adani Group told Reuters that neither the group nor Adani himself were in any such discussions. Shares of Adani Enterprises the flagship of the Adani Group, were 0.5% higher, reversing earlier losses. Meanwhile, a media report recently said that the more business-to-business oriented Adani group is looking to expand into more consumer-facing businesses. If a deal with Paytm materialises, it would mark the Adani Group's foray into India's burgeoning digital payments market, which includes Google Pay and Walmart backed PhonePe.

The Gage County Board of Supervisors heard about difficult road conditions in the county at Wednesday's meeting at the courthouse. Jeremy Sutter of Liberty told the board about the state of 176th Road and other county roadways near Barneston. "It's very frustrating for everybody on any of these roads to have to drive these roads," he said. Beatrice Police on Tuesday arrested a man after he allegedly threatened to kill someone. Officers found Gritten, with knives on his person, in the residence, along with some children who appeared to be upset or scared. The victim said Gritten started calling the victim names and shoved another person to the ground, then followed the victim to a car, saying he was going to kill himself and others. Officers found Gritten had a domestic protection order to stay away from the residence issued in December, and he was taken to Gage County Jail. He faces charges of domestic protection order violation, third-degree domestic assault and child abuse.

The Beatrice Public Schools Board of Education met on Tuesday evening for a committee of the whole meeting. Included on the agenda was a discussion on the Beatrice High School cell phone and personal electronic device policy. “It would be included in the handbook.”Eric Trusty noted that he felt the Lincoln Public Schools method was beneficial. Additionally, Alexander discussed the interfund borrowing in relation to the completion of construction of the new elementary building. The board would receive suggestions at the July 8 meeting and would vote for final approval at the August board meeting.
