Filippo Besozzi, administrator of the company that manages the cable car, told the ANSA news agency that the most seriously injured was a 59-year-old man who had a wound on his arm. He said there had been a "technical problem" and the cable car did not slow down properly as it entered the station, and hit a barrier. He said there was no significant damage to the cable car, which was renovated in 2023, but it was undergoing checks. In May 2021, 14 people died in a cable car accident on the Mottarone mountain overlooking Lake Maggiore in northern Italy after the cable snapped.

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - More than 30 lakh taxpayers have filed their income tax return online so far during the ongoing tax year 2025–26, according to the National Board of Revenue (NBR). Since then, around 45 lakh taxpayers have registered in the e-return system, while more than 30 lakh have already submitted their returns online. To facilitate the taxpayers, the government has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns until January 31, 2026. The NBR expressed optimism that more than 40 lakh taxpayers will submit e-returns within the extended deadline this year. If any error is found in the submitted return, taxpayers can file a revised return through the e-return system within 180 days.

Burning fireworks, firecrackers and flying lanterns have been prohibited in Chattogram city on the last day of the Gregorian calendar. Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasib Aziz has issued six instructions imposing strict restrictions on public movement and gatherings, particularly around Patenga and Parki beaches. The restrictions will come into force from 6pm on Wednesday and remain effective for the next 24 hours, the CMP said. The instructions were issued under Sections 28, 29 and 33 of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police Ordinance, it added. Visitors will not be allowed to stay at Patenga and Parki beaches from Wednesday evening until the same time the following day.
