Landslides have occurred at three points along the Baghaighat-Sajek road in Rangamati’s Baghaichari Upazila. The incidents have halted traffic to the Sajek Valley, a tourist destination, and cutting off 500 tourists who travelled to the area. The landslides occurred around 4am on Thursday on the road in the Nandaram area of Sajek union, said Upazila Nirbahi (executive) Officer Shireen Akhtar. This has led to a suspension of road traffic. As a result, over 500 tourists who travelled to the destination are cut off.

Police have filed a case against up to 1,200 unnamed individuals, mostly students, over alleged rioting, vandalism, and attempted murder of law enforcers during Tuesday’s clashes at the Secretariat. Sub-Inspector Golam Mukti Mahmud of the Secretariat Security Division lodged the case late on Tuesday. A Dhaka court accepted the case on Wednesday and directed police to submit an investigation report by Aug 28.
