ACWA Power Co, a leading Saudi renewables developer, has successfully finalized four project financing and investment agreements totaling USD 1.78 billion (EUR 1.65 billion) to support its global renewable energy initiatives, which include large-scale projects in Uzbekistan and Morocco. Under a framework agreement with the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), ACWA Power has secured USD 690 million to finance its future project pipeline across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and other targeted markets. Furthermore, ACWA Power has entered into a joint development agreement with battery solutions provider Gotion Power Morocco to collaborate on a 500-MW wind project, which will include a 2,000-MWh battery storage component. Sudan has cancelled a port deal with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in an apparent protest against Abu Dhabi's alleged support for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the paramilitary group engaged in a deadly conflict with government forces. Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim said his country had cancelled a memorandum of understanding with the UAE to establish the Abu Amama port on the Red Sea coast. At a press conference in Port Sudan, he asserted that Sudan would not cede “one centimetre” of its coastline to the UAE. According to the announcement made on October 20 by Raya Foods' parent company, Helios aims to buy a set of shares from Raya Holding for Financial Investments, the sole shareholder of Raya Foods. The funds raised will support Raya Foods' international growth plans. Democratic Republic of Congo's army on Tuesday said it had taken back the eastern town of Kalembe a day after it was seized by M23 rebels. Kalembe, a small town in Walikale territory in militia-plagued North Kivu, came under M23 control on Sunday morning when rebels seized it from Congolese armed forces and the Wazalendo alliance of pro-government armed groups. Congo army spokesman Sylvain Ekenge said Kalembe had been taken back on Monday. He said via telephone on Tuesday that fighting between the Wazalendo and the M23 took place in areas that were not under army control. An official from Walikale territory, Kabaki Alimasi, confirmed the army had taken the town back but said fighting continued nearby.

The UN’s envoy to Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, has proposed partitioning Western Sahara as a potential solution to the decades-long conflict between Morocco and the pro-independence Polisario Front. His suggestion, presented to the UN Security Council, involves dividing the territory, allowing for both Moroccan sovereignty in the north and an independent state in the south. Although some countries involved in the issue expressed interest, both Morocco and Polisario have shown no willingness to explore the option.
