‘My heart is full’: Olivia Chow’s first day on the job as Toronto’s mayor-elect

“I feel really grateful,” Chow told CP24’s breakfast show, wearing a royal purple suit — her campaign colour. Unlike a typical mayoral election with a formal transition period, Chow will hit the ground running. City Clerk John Elvidge said Tuesday that Chow has requested to take office on July 12. “Housing, housing, housing,” she said of her priority among the many challenges the city faces. Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark also called, she said, and she is looking forward to working with him.
