After the funeral prayers, Towkir’s body was taken to Supura graveyard where he was laid to rest with a guard of honour. In a short memorial before that, Towkir’s father, Tohurul Islam, gave a tearful address: “I am that cursed father who carried his child’s body on his shoulder. Earlier in the day, a Bangladesh Air Force helicopter flew Towkir’s remains from Dhaka to the Rajshahi Cantonment. He joined the Air Force in 2016. Towkir’s aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College during a solo training flight, killing at least 28 people, mostly schoolchildren.
