Alexxa Oliver wasn’t going to let a thief keep her from feeding hundreds of hungry families this Thanksgiving. Members of the nonprofit U.R. The truck contained 475 frozen turkeys and 61 vegan turkeys — a seemingly insurmountable number of birds to replace with Thanksgiving less than a week away. And with some help from generous community members, she said, the foundation was able to replace all the Thanksgiving birds that had been stolen. The foundation is expected to hand out the last of the turkeys on Wednesday, just in time for the holiday.
