Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Yunus expressed deep grief and condolences over the loss of more than 1,000 lives in the recent floods in Pakistan. The chief adviser also told Shehbaz that general elections in Bangladesh would be held in February. He noted that talks between the National Consensus Commission and political parties were in their final stages, with the parties preparing to sign the “July Charter,” which will set out constitutional and political reforms. The Pakistani prime minister also invited Yunus to visit Pakistan before the end of the interim government’s term.
