Vietnamese athletes shine at Int’l Track & Field – Vietnam Open 2018Vietnam secured 14 gold medals on the first day of the Ho Chi Minh City International Track & Field – Vietnam Open 2018. In the 5,000m, male athlete Nguyen Van Lai and female runner Nguyen Thi Oanh, both from Vietnam, finished first with times of 14:44.71 and 16:20.26, respectively. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s Bui Thi Thu Thao won the women’s long jump with a result of 6.55m, and her countryman Pham Van Lam won the men’s long jump with 7.74m. Vietnam’s runners Vu Thi Ly and Duong Van Thai bagged gold medals in the women’s and men’s 800m, in times of 2:10.81 and 1:50.62, respectively. Quach Thi Lan finished first at the women’s 400m run with 52.85 seconds.
