Arriving late has long been considered the height of discourtesy – but TV host Victoria Coren Mitchell says that it's guests who turn up early who drive her nuts. 'Everyone complains about people being late and the ones who are early get away with it,' Mitchell, 51, told BBC Radio 4 show Room 101. they say, arriving at the door 20 minutes early when you're in a nightie picking the chicken up off the floor and cleaning it with a tea towel. The correct thing to be is about seven or eight minutes late at all times.' Choosing people who arrive early as one of her pet hates on the show, where guests pick what they'd like to banish from their lives, she told host Paul Merton: 'People who are early... there's a smugness to it.
