The United Nations is 'ready' to assist Bangladesh in conducting an inquiry into the violence and fatalities which occurred during protests against quotas reserved for government jobs, reports bdnews24.com. Stephane Dujarric, a spokesperson for the UN secretary-general, made the comment while responding to a question at a press briefing on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the United Nations and other international bodies for cooperation in the investigation. "We want a proper and thorough investigation into the incidents and to ensure that those responsible are punished," she added at an event in Dhaka.
