British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak thanked President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi for Egypt’s support in the operation to evacuate British embassy staff from Khartoum on Sunday. This came during a phone call between the two leaders, according to a press statement issued by Prime Minister’s Office, 10 Downing Street. The leaders shared their deep concerns about the escalation in violence in Sudan and the risk of worsening security and humanitarian situation. Sudan has been witnessing deadly armed clashes between the Sudanese army and the RSF in the capital Khartoum and other areas since April 15. According to the country’s health ministry, the deadly clashes have left at least 424 people killed and about 3,730 wounded by Saturday.
