The incident occurred near the Khoighat Para border early on Wednesday, according to Lt Col Jubayed Hassan, commander of the 18th BGB Battalion. The dead were identified as 24-year-old Abdul Jalil from Tentulia’s Magura area and 23-year-old Yasin Ali from the Tiranihat Brammatal area. Locals say a group of men had gone to the border area early in the morning when they were fired upon by the BSF. The dead have been identified, but the local administration and their families have yet to file a complaint, said Lt Col Jubayed.
