Photo: BSSRAJSHAHI, April 1, 2026 (BSS)- As part of the government's electoralcommitment to plant 25 crore trees in five years, the Roads and HighwaysDepartment (RHD) has officially launched a tree plantation program inRajshahi. The initiative began on Wednesday at Dargapara intersection along theRajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway. Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Afia Akhter formally inaugurated the program byplanting saplings. According to the Social Forestry Division of the Roads and HighwaysDepartment, a large-scale tree plantation initiative has been undertakennationwide in the current 2025-26 fiscal year. The first phase of this extensive program began on Wednesday with theplanting of 100 trees.
