LÀO CAI — A crane accident on Friday at a phosphorus slag-crushing plant in Tằng Loỏng Industrial Park, Bảo Thắng District, Lào Cai Province, has left three workers dead and three others injured. Initial investigations suggest the tragedy occurred at 11:30am when a cable hoist carrying the six workers suddenly snapped, sending the container they were in plummeting to the ground. The two workers who lost their lives have been identified as L.V.C., age unknown, and P.V.N, 34. The identity of the third worker who lost his life during hospital treatment has not been announced. The police have concluded that the construction company's use of a tower crane to transport workers violated labour safety regulations.
